Pre-Algebra - Tutor: Mr. Shawn Hill

An introduction to algebra that includes geometry. Topics covered include prime and composite numbers, fractions and decimals, order of operations, coordinates, exponents, square roots, ratios, algebraic phrases, probability, the Pythagorean Theorem, and more.

Prerequisite: Saxon Math 76 is not a prerequisite for this class, but successful completion of Saxon Math 76 is a good sign of readiness for Algebra ½. 

Textbook Requirements: Saxon Algebra ½, (must be Third Edition), textbook and tests and answer key books. 

Annual Tuition: $600/ 80 Contact hours 

Geometry - Tutor: Paula Bostrom

The geometry class covers traditional formal geometry with an emphasis on clear logical thinking and proof. Students will learn definitions of geometric terms, the structure and implementation of direct and indirect proofs, properties of geometric shapes, and constructions using a compass and straight edge.

Students should also have a ruler, protractor, compass and scientific calculator.

Students should be prepared to spend 4-6 hours per week outside of class time for homework.

Course Credit: 1 credit of Math

Available: All grades.

Prerequisite: Passing an algebra proficiency test is required to take geometry.

Algebra 1 – Tutor:  Mr. Shawn Hill

Are you tired of the constant daily battle when it comes to math time?  Do you cringe when you hear the sighs coming from your child when you mention math?  Are you at your wits end trying to scramble to find a way to explain those math  concepts that you haven't touched in over 20 years?  Then this class is what you have been searching for!!  This class takes some of the drudgery out of math that is so common among our children. Your child will find math more enjoyable in a subject that for many is quite frankly unpleasant!  When your child successfully completes this course, they will have the necessary foundation for approaching much higher level math courses. This is a course that involves the mastery of math concepts including operations with real numbers, solving equations and inequalities, polynomials, exponential operations, factoring, functions, systems of equations and inequalities, linear equations, and quadratic equations.

Algebra II – Tutor: Mr. Shawn Hill

Your child will find math more enjoyable in a subject that for many is quite frankly unpleasant!  This class includes a review and expansion of Algebra I concepts, irrational and complex numbers, quadratic equations, functions, and problem solving.  When a student successfully completes this class, they are prepared to take a college math course.

Advanced Math - Tutor: Mr. Shawn Hill

When a student successfully completes this class, they are prepared to take multiple college math courses.
